Modern Audiology is a group of highly-qualified audiologist and hearing instrument specialists providing evidence-based, individualized care to our patients. Since our inception in 1990, the practice has evolved, but the mission has never changed, exceptional hearing healthcare with upfront and transparent pricing.

Our providers specialize in a wide range of audiological services and products including wax removal, hearing evaluations, tinnitus treatment, hearing aids and custom ear molds. We are also proud to offer unbundled pricing options, saving our patients an average of $1500 on hearing device purchases.

In February 2017, Randall Smith joined forces with Zachary Zells to create Modern Audiology. The practice, founded in 1990 under the name Lakewood Hearing Center, was relocated to the Academy Park Professional Building in an effort to deliver a truly exceptional hearing healthcare experience with upfront and transparent pricing.

When it comes to hearing healthcare, Modern Audiology has every aspect of care covered, from diagnosis to treatment.

Zach Zells - Modern Audiology

ZACH ZELLS, AU.D.

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Zach Zells completed his undergraduate degrees in finance and communicative sciences and disorders at Michigan State University and his doctoral work at Wayne State University. Zach’s personal philosophy is to, “Utilize his enthusiasm and positive energy to provide an exceptional hearing healthcare experience. Dr. Zells enjoys hiking, skiing, and spending quality time with his wife Jenny and son Quentin.

SAM PENNINGTON, AU.D.

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Sam Pennington completed his undergraduate degree in Linguistics at Indiana University and his doctoral work at the University of Northern Colorado. Sam is committed to helping patients navigate the issues and concerns that come with hearing loss and helping them arrive at the solution that works best for their individual needs. Sam also strives to help those in the Denver community who are underserved and need better access to hearing healthcare, including Denver’s Spanish-speaking population. Outside the office Dr. Pennington enjoys spending time with his wife, Suzy, and son, Julian, being outdoors, playing tennis, and baking.
