In the auto industry anti-lock brakes are anti-lock brakes. In the hearing industry, the high pitch noise you occasionally hear coming from a hearing aid is feedback, but the feature designed to eliminate it has a plethora of different names depending on the manufacturer.
Comparing hearing aid features is difficult because the hearing industry is not standardized to allow for an apples to apples comparison.
Hearing aid features, which once came at an additional expense, are now the standard. Feedback suppression, Bluetooth, digital, and rechargeability are no longer a luxury, but an expectation. The difference between hearing aids is often defined by the capacity of these features.
